It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lawrence MacLagan Wedderburn. Lawrie was the quintessential “old-timer” in the Okotoks area. Born in High River, Alberta, he spent his early years in Longview, moving in 1938 to the family farm near Okotoks where he spent the rest of his long life as a proud farmer and family man. Lawrie was predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty, his sons, Greg, Rob and Bruce, and his brothers, John and Bill. He will be sadly missed by… Read More » his son Terry (Lina), daughter Peggy (Richard), son Bill (Kirsty), daughters-in-law Kathy, Angie and Dorothy; his grandchildren Ange, Tim, Terra, Kyla, Jason, Shaun, Sonia, Julie, Dryden, Keeley, Kate, Corey and Jerianne; his great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law Joan Wilson, and countless other relatives. Lawrie was involved in the Okotoks community throughout his life, with an especially strong connection to the Okotoks Oilers hockey team. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Barb Neufeld for the care she provided to Lawrie. A funeral service will take place at St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Okotoks on January 7th at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the Foothills Country Hospice or the Okotoks Oilers Jr. A hockey team.
