Laura Catherine Hoar
Laura C.
Hoar, 90, of Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital
on Thursday, January 24, 2019.
Born in
Mapleton, she was the daughter of the late Weldon and Dorothy (Smith)
Stiles.
Laura was a
teacher at Atlantic Baptist University. She was a graduate of Elgin
Superior School, Acadia University, UNB and New York Biblical
Seminary. She was a member of Steeves Memorial United Church, the UCW
within the church and CGIT. Laura was past President of the Ladies
Auxiliary of the Moncton Gideon Camp and of the National Auxiliary
Cabinet. She was a former Board member of the Community Chaplaincy for
Ex-Offenders.
Laura will
be sadly missed by her stepdaughter, Carolyn Steeves (Doug) of
Moncton; daughter-in-law, Nancy Hoar; grandchildren, Debby Tucker
(Art), Glen Hoar (Cindy), Brian Steeves (Marcheta), Brad Steeves
(Tracey) and Wanda Steeves; great grandchildren, Kristin, Sarah,
Spencer, Benjamin, Michael, Jonathan, Kyle, Ashlynn, Rachel; sister,
Bertha Babcock of Elgin as well as several nieces, nephews and
extended family members.
In addition
to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Hoar
(1994); stepson, Arnold Hoar, brother Ralph and sister, Louise
Brace.
Visitation
at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on
Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Memorial Service to
celebrate and honour Laura’s life will be held at Fergusons
Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 1:00 pm, with Rev.
Gordon Sutherland officiating. A reception will follow the service in
the Funeral Home Reception Centre. A private family burial was held in
Fair Haven Memorial Gardens, with Rev. Dr. Martin Kreplin
officiating.
