John Joseph Halback April 5 1923 January 26 2019 (age 95)

With heavy hearts, the family of John Halback announces his passing, which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on January 26th, 2019. John was born in Montreal on April 9, 1923; a son of the late Albert and Margaret (Robinson) Halback, and the loving husband of the late Heiltje “Elsie” (Nieswaage) Halback. John spent his working years in the paper industry, working for Irving Paper, Quebec North Shore Paper, and Great Lakes Paper. He was an outstanding athlete in various sports in his younger years. John is survived by his son Richard (Karen) Halback. Also mourning his loss is his very special friend, Nancy Floyd, caregiver and friend Paula Kemp, good friends Bob and Jean Hamel, Bob Donovan, Rick Webster, Christina Kingston and George Pattison, along with special neighbours Jennifer and Wade Hunt. Along with his wife and parents, John was pre-deceased by his sister, Jean Liesenger. Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424), with a memorial service being held on Friday, February 1st at 2pm, with visitation being held 2 hours prior to service time. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
