John Johnston
John Johnston, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Sunday, January 20, 2019, in Grande Prairie, at the age of 39 years.
John was born in Calgary, AB on April 29, 1979 and moved to Grande Prairie at the age of two. He started out working as a welder’s helper with his dad, where he was in high demand. He then moved on to pipelining which became his passion and career.
John was funny, kindhearted, and honest. He got along with everyone and would give them the shirt off his back. He was always joking, laughing, and very giving.
He had a huge love for sports and was involved in numerous teams. Paintball was a big part of his life and he loved a good game of poker, golf, bowling, baseball, hockey, dodgeball, darts or pool.
John will be sadly missed by his children: Bailey Elizabeth Rose Johnston (20) and Taya Mae Johnston (12); parents Colin and Sue Johnston; siblings: Jim (Andrea) Rogerson, Jessica Johnston, and Jennifer (Warren) Lavallee; nieces Morgan and Kaydance; nephew Colin; as well as many aunts uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Douglas and Marion Shackelton and his paternal grandparents Sam and Rose Johnston.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 12:00-6:00pm in the Grand Ball Room at the Pomeroy Hotel and Conference Centre in Grande Prairie (11633 100 St.).
Memorial donations may be made to the family to assist in alleviating expenses at this time.
