John Alexander Ashfield
On Monday December 24th 2018, John Alexander Ashfield passed away suddenly with his family by his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Margaret Grace (McFadyen) and children George (Sarah) Ashfield and Mary (David) Fisher. He is survived by his brother Brian (Dale), close cousins Heather (Vaughn) and Bruce (Elaine), and brother-in-law Jim (Robin). He is predeceased by his parents Jack and Dorothy Ashfield and his brother Gerry (Marie). He was a proud grandpa to Nolan, Finley, Jack, Aubrey and Isla. John was an integral part of the Burlington community during his 30 years living in the city. He was an active member of Port Nelson United Church, The Burlington Curling Club, the Probus Club of Burlington and the Seniors Centre. John will be remembered for his laughter, the joy he had with his grandchildren, his love of music, books, movies and theatre. He loved spending time at the cottage with his family, travelling the world with Margaret, and enjoying the best parts of life. A celebration of John’s life will take place on Saturday January 19th, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Port Nelson United Church, 3132 South Drive, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, a donation would be appreciated in John’s name to the Partnership West Food Bank of Burlington where he volunteered, or the charity of your choice.
