Joan Charlotte Joyce Budgell
June 09, 1937 – December 03, 2018

It is with saddened hearts, but with a shout of victory, that the family of the late Joan Charlotte Joyce Budgell (nee Winsor), age 81, of Triton, NL announces her Promotion to Glory on Monday, December 3, 2018 at the Carmelite House-Palliative, Grand Falls-Windsor; surrounded by all her loving family.
Servant of God, well done!
Thy glorious warfare’s past;
The battle’s fought, the race is won,
And thou art crowned at last.
Joan was born on June 9, 1937 in Triton to Arthur and Fanny Winsor. She met and later married Boyce Budgell on December 21, 1954 and together they raised 2 sons, Orvin and Lawrence, a few years later were given the gift of three granddaughters, Vanessa, Robyn-Ann, and Celeste.
Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and spoke of them with so much pride during daily conversations. Another blessing in Boyce and Joan’s life was when they became great-grandparents to Seth, Erin, Tristian, Tanner, and Gabe. Nanny Joan spent countless hours reading, singing, and having church with them.
Along with being a homemaker she worked at Dorman Roberts Ltd., as a cashier and also at Triton Seafoods, she worked and later retired on July 1, 1997 from F.P.I. in Triton.
Joan had such a zest for life and thoroughly enjoyed her daily chores. She will be remembered by many for having a chat and a wave while she pinned out her clothes in the early mornings. She made countless pies and delivered them to many residents of Triton. If anyone wanted a piece of pie, there was always pie at Joan’s.
Joan’s faith was evident in her everyday life. She served her church in many ways and had three commissions from 1973 – 2018, totalling 45 years. She was especially proud of her Sunday duties as the Welcome Sergeant; this was a chance to offer a hug, smile or an encouraging word to everyone who entered the doors.
“Aunt Joan” as known to many will be thoroughly missed and is a great loss for her family and her church.
Joan had her house in order and once her “work” was complete, she passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord surrounded by her loving family.
She is predeceased by her parents Arthur and Fanny Winsor; sisters Hilda Fudge, Bertha Fudge, Thelma Winsor, Celia Winsor; brothers Otto Winsor, Earle Winsor, Steadman Winsor, Ford Winsor, Hedley Winsor, Roland Winsor.
Joan leaves to remember the wonderful life that she lived, her husband Boyce Budgell; sons Orvin (Susan) Budgell, Lawrence Budgell; grandchildren Vanessa Budgell, Robyn-Ann (Trent) Roberts, Celeste (Kent) Roberts; great-grandchildren Seth Roberts, Erin Roberts, Tristian Roberts, Tanner Roberts, Gabe Roberts; sister Linda (Francis) Verge; brothers Roy Winsor, Cecil (Doreen) Winsor, Warrick (Maxine) Winsor, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. Forever Remembered, Ever Loved – Gone But Not Forgotten!
The Celebration of Life Service took place from the Salvation Army Citadel, Triton, on Friday, December 7, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Majors Terry and Roxann Feltham officiating. Interment was at the Triton Evergreen Cemetery, Triton. Honorary pallbearer/flagbearer was cousin Wayne Budgell. Pallbearers were brothers Warrick Winsor, Cecil Winsor; brothers-in-law Ivan Crocker, Roy Budgell, Eric Bursey; friends Bram Roberts, Todd Winsor; nephew Edmund Fudge. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Elaine M. Rideout and Harry Oxford of Green Bay Funeral Home, Springdale.
