Obituary of James DIXON
Jim, beloved husband of forty five years of Laurel Dixon, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 after a courageous two year battle with cancer.
Jim was born in England but grew up in Calgary. He attended Viscount Bennett High School and the University of Calgary, Faculty of Commerce. He also played football with the University of Calgary Dinos. Jim worked as an oil and gas accountant for many years in Calgary. He was also an award winning freelance photographer. Jim was an avid football fan and gardener.
Jim was a Life Member of the Fly Fihers International and was a Certified Fly Casting Instructor. He loved to fly fish with family and friends and tie his own flies.
Jim is survived by his wife Laurel; daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Timothy Lee; and sister and brother-in-law, Julia Dixon and Barry Vindevogel.
A Celebration of his life will be held at Crescent Heights Baptist Church, 1212 – 1 Street NW on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Reception will be in the church hall.
