With great sadness the family of Irene Kennedy would like to announce her passing, Irene peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 after a lengthy battle with cancer while in the loving care of the staff at Southwood Hospice.
She was born on February 27,1941 in the small town of Hardisty, Alberta. Irene went into nursing where she developed a love for helping people in need. She met the love of her life Patrick Kennedy while nursing in Wainwright and they tied the knot in 1978. Irene and Pat gave birth to their only son Robert on July 16, 1980. She settled down as a Mother and ran a daycare business from her home for many years.
When her loving husband passed away in 2003, she devoted her time to travelling, helping volunteer to prepare lunches for underprivileged children and becoming closer to God as a devoted Jehovah’s witness.
Irene was predeceased by her husband; Patrick Kennedy, parents; James and Hazel Voros, as well as her brother; Ed (Valerie). Irene is survived by her sisters; Joyce Beeton, Corinne Hittle (Al), brothers; Dahl (Carol) and Calvin (Sophie) Voros, son; Robert Kennedy (Jenesia) and grandson; Eli Kennedy. Irene was always willing to help those in need and asked for very little in return, she will truly be missed by all those who knew her. A memorial service will be held at Fairmount Kingdom Hall (9110 Fairmount Drive SE) on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 2:00pm.
