Henry Wyonzek 2019

Henry Wyonzek
December 11, 1932 – January 14, 2019

Henry Wyonzek, beloved husband of Anne Wyonzek of Canora, SK, passed away at the Canora Hospital on January 14, 2019, at 86 years of age.
Henry was born on December 11, 1932 to Nicolas and Frances (Fulawka) Wyonzek on the family farm near Veregin. When Henry was five years old, his family moved and began farming north of Canora.
Henry attended school in Canora and continued farming with his father. In 1952, he met the love of his life, Anne Wonsiak, and asked for her hand in marriage on New Years Eve the following year. Henry married his “Angie” on October 30, 1954. They started their family on the Wyonzek family farm and moved into town in 1962. This land held a special place in Henry’s heart. He enjoyed farming with his sons throughout his life, a legacy they will continue for years to come.
In 1954, Henry and his brother, Adam formed Wyonzek Brothers Construction. After Adam’s retirement in 1978, Henry continued to run the business with his sons until his recent retirement.
Henry has been a cornerstone of the town of Canora and his many contributions are still part of the community today. He was instrumental in bringing water to the town, building St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and digging the Canora Swimming Pool. He was known for his honesty, integrity, and loyalty and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. Henry and Anne raised seven children who were the light of his life. Although farming and construction kept him very busy, he loved to travel and took the time to drive his family to Walt Disney World in Florida in 1972 and in 1981. Both were magical trips that will never be forgotten. He taught his children to be fair, to work hard, and to play just a little bit harder.
Henry is predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Frances; his brothers: Karl, Edward, Victor and Adam; and his sisters: Lena Jones, Jean Urquhart, Helen Kapuscinski, Stella Horechka, Bernice Taman and Gladys, in infancy.
Henry will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by his wife, Anne; his children: Dave, Darcy, Ken (Shelley), Pat, Margaret (Steve Elekes), Geoff (Emily) and Bob (Christy); grandchildren: Kyle (Acara), Kayla (Blake Constant), Dylan (Todd McCaslin), Steven, Adam, Tarrington, Tannum, Megan and Grace; and great-granddaughters: Arista, Acelyn and Sienna; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.
