OBITUARY
Hartley Lewis Harris
May 8, 1935 – January 1, 2019
Harris, Hartley Lewis – Age 83 or Bear River, Digby Co; passed away January 1, 2019 in Digby General Hospital.
Born in Bear River he was a son of the late Lovett and Jennie (Sanford) Harris.
Hartley was in the Canadian Air Force which brought him to Ontario where he met his soon to be wife, Helen who he married in 1958. They lived in the States where he worked at a family newspaper business for 19 years before moving back home to Bear River to look after his mom and brother. Hartley enjoyed traveling with his wife, fishing, hunting and camping and he loved his cats. He has missed his wife dearly since she passed away in 1996 and has kept much to himself since then.
Hartley is survived by sister–in-law, Doris Bell-Harris and his family who has looked after him for the past 9 years, Janice Chute (Robert Andrews) and their families. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Helen (Hatch) Harris; brothers, Kenneth Harris, Allison Harris and niece, Hope Harris.
A private graveside service will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery, Bear River with Rev. Jeff White presiding. Donations in memory of Hartley may be made to Society for the Friends of Ferals, 100 Culloden Road, Digby NS, B0V 1A0. Leave condolences at www.jaynesfuneralhome.com
