Obituary of Gordon Dee
James “Gordon” Dee, 76 of Green Hill formerly of Trenton passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow on September 20, 1942, he was a son of the late Henry and Sadie (MacKay) Dee.
Gordon grew up in Trenton. He joined the Royal Canadian Army in 1959 and achieved the rank as Warrant Officer. Gordon served with the Royal Canadian Black Watch, the Royal Canadian Regiment and Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry and was in Canada, Germany, Cyprus and Norway. He received the UN Cyprus Medal, NATO Medal, Special Force Medal and the Canadian Decoration Medal. After retiring from the Armed Forces, Gordon returned to Pictou County where he was employed with Michelin Tire.
He had a love for all sports, both playing and coaching baseball, track and field and hockey.
Gordon will be dearly missed by his wife Patsy (Johnstone); his daughter Shannen Fahie (Shannon), Milford; son Gordon (Cindy Gates-Fahie), Aylesford; grand children Kyle Fahie, Lauren Dee and Liam Dee and great grand daughter Selina Fahie. He is also survived by his sister Judy Dart, Trenton; his brother Alan Dee (Carolyn), Trenton and sisters-in law Isabel Higgins, Doreen Johnstone and Eleanor Darroch, Dartmouth.
He was predeceased by his son David Scott Dee; sister-in law Edith Avery and brother -in law Lee Dart.
His family will receive visitors on Friday evening from 7-9 pm at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. The Royal Canadian Legion will conduct a service at 6:30 Friday at the Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held 2 o’clock Saturday at Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Fergie MacKay officiating. Spring interment will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens.
