Gordon Noble was born July 14, 1935 to Albert and Dulcie Noble. At the young age of 10, his father died and being the oldest son, he took on the role of provider and head of the household. He worked as a teenager in the lumber woods and logging industry. By his late teens and early 20’s, he worked in a woodworking shop in Tilt Cove. He then returned to Springdale and worked in carpentry and construction before finally building his own cabinet/woodworking business in the 1970’s. His cabinets and handiwork are in many homes within the province.
He married Gladys Rideout of Morton’s Harbour who was a teacher in Springdale in 1959 and together they raised 5 children, and were blessed with 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
In addition to his tremendous ability in woodworking, he was also a talented musician. He taught himself to play guitar and in his younger years often sang and played in church. Up until he injured his hand, he continued to play in his home for his children and grandchildren who sang along.
