In addition to his mother and grandparents, David was predeceased by two brothers, Edwin (Wanda) of Fredericton, NB and Gerry of Calgary, AB; one sister, Sheila of Calgary, AB.
David retired from the Provincial Dept. of Finance in 1988, as an Accountant. During his working years, he supported his children’s various sports and recreational activities, and also volunteered as a Youth Baseball and Youth Hockey coach. He enjoyed many physical activities, walking, hiking, biking, playing softball, volleyball, dancing (“Jive-style”) and ice skating at the LBR (where he met his wife, Irene). He had a great appreciation for music, especially Jazz and Blues. David loved being “one with nature”, and during his retirement years, he particularly enjoyed camping at the family’s summer place along the Miramichi River (Whitney, NB), where he enjoyed wood-chopping, canoeing, bird-watching (with a special knack for imitating various bird-calls), then spending the Winters in Florida along with his wife, Irene.
He was an active member of St. John’s Anglican Church, where he served on Vestry and was a Lay reader (both at church and at Hospital Chapel services). He was also involved in Leading Bible Study Groups and was an “Alpha” Group Leader.
David’s family wish to express their deepest gratitude to all the dedicated and caring staff of Birch Grove Unit at York Care Centre, who made the final years for David and his family easier to bear, and so much better than it otherwise would have been. Also, a special Thank-you to his primary “GP”, Dr. Anand Irrinki, for his kind, compassionate care of David over the years.
There will be no visitation. A Memorial Service will be held at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 75 Main Street on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 2 pm with Rev. Paul Ranson and Rev. John Galbraith officiating. A reception will follow the service. Interment will take place in the church cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, York Foundation, St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of David Eugene Price 2019..
