Dad loved his little home and the land he lived on all his adult life, having one of the best vegetable gardens in the Valley. He loved to argue…whether it was the score of a hockey game or price of a truck. Dad loved his oxen and working with them, tilling his garden, going for a walk on a warm evening or going to the ox pulls with Andy. He worked hard all his life, picking apples for Spurr Brothers, driving tractor trailer for Smith’s Transport, gravel truck for Roy Hiltz and driving a truck as well as the warehouse supervisor for TRA.
At 93 years of age he was fiercely independent and determined, still living on his own. Dad enjoyed driving his black Ford 1/2 ton, watching his baseball and hockey games, Judge Judy. Only needing a helping hand every once in a while, he was a very proud man who gave us all strength.
The family wishes to sincerely thank Phillip Gates and Jackie for all they have done. Dad’s words they were the best kind of neighbors anyone would want. Also wishing to thank Dr. Surrette, Dr. Ward and the nurses at Soldiers Memorial for their special care.
There will be a visitation at Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St. 902-825-3448 on Saturday evening, January 5th, 2019 from 7 till 9 pm. No service and private family burial at the North Kingston Cemetery.
Donations in Dad’s memory can be made to the Annapolis Valley Exhibition.
