Clara Barone 2019

Clara Barone
May 3, 1925 – January 17, 2019

Clara Maria Elena Barone (nee Tofani) 1925 – 2019
Peacefully and with the loving accompaniment of her family over her final days, Mom passed away on January 17th. Clara was predeceased by the love of her life and husband of over 65 years, Mike Barone. She is survived by son Gary and Victoria, son Martin, grandchildren Michael and Vincent, sister in laws Josie Sliwa and Karen Tofani. She dearly loved her many nephews and niece (Tofani, Ruffo, Devellano, Barone) and their families. Predeceased by parents Guiseppe Tofani and Teresa (nee Mancini), sister Inez Ruffo, and brothers Murray (Mario) and Carlo. Much appreciation to the staff at both Villa Italia (and residents) and St. Joseph’s Hospital (ALC, CTU, emerg) for their care and friendship. She dedicated decades of her life to volunteer for St. Anthony Church and the CWL, The Good Shepherd, and Famous People Players. She lived on Aberfoyle, in the home she built together with Dad in the Rosedale area, since 1951. She loved to bowl, golf, dance and sing. She loved her Ticats and Blue Jays, especially when they won. She worked at Cornell Tailors during WWII making service uniforms, and later worked at Sears in the catalogue department for over 20 years until retirement at 65. She grew up in the Barton & Sherman area (on Imperial). Her life is one of love and service to her family, friends, church and community. The Barone family will welcome friends at the FRISCOLANTI FUNERAL CHAPEL, 43 Barton St. East on Thursday, January 24 from 2 to 4 pm & 6 – 8 pm. Prayer vigil will be at 3 pm. Funeral mass & reception to follow on Friday, January 25 at 10 am at St. Anthony of Padua Church (Barton & Leinster) where she was a parishioner since her baptism in 1925. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to St. Anthony of Padua Church or The Good Shepherd or Famous People Players would be appreciated.
“Mom, you showed us the life path to follow and we will never forget this greatest of your many gifts.”
