Obituary of Christopher Myers
MYERS, Christopher “Fireman Chris” – 60, of Enfield, passed away January 7th, 2019 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.
Born in Moncton, NB to Louise (Whippie) Myers and the late Vincent Myers. He grew up with strong guidance from his Mom; running around with his first friends, his brothers- Danny, David and Shane. They, to this day, enjoy sharing stories and laughs about their days in the 101 Royal Air Cadet Squadron.
Chris loved his community of Enfield and was an active volunteer starting in 1985 with the Enfield Fire Department, later becoming a career firefighter. One of his favourite aspects of his job was going into the schools and teaching children the ‘Learn Not to Burn’ program. The Enfield District School and Oldfield Consolidated Schools were always very close to his heart.
He was happiest on vacation with Ellie on ‘their Island’ of PEI, making many trips a year – most recently last weekend just to eat breakfast at Maid Marians. At least once a year they brought us kids and the grandkids along! Growing up with Dad, there was never a dull moment; Sunday drives to the Valley and camping all over Nova Scotia and PEI. One day coming home with ducklings for each of us!
He is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Elizabeth (White); his children, Krystal (Brett), Enfield; Chris, Halifax; Rebecca (Cory), Upper Nine Mile River; and Emma (Cameron), Enfield; and his pride and joy – “Paw’s specials”, Connor, Cole, Easton, Logan, Cooper, Maisy and Grace; his mother, Louise; brothers, Danny (Jeanine), Moncton and Shane (Buff), Salisbury.
He was predeceased by his brother, David.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie.
Funeral service will be held 11am Saturday, January 12 in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Enfield, Fr. Michael Walsh officiating.
A reception will follow in the Enfield Fire Hall.
Special thank you to the sweet nurses at the Chemo ward in the Dickson Building.
