Obituary of Beverly Blakely
BLAKELY, Beverly Isabella Mary
With sadness we announce the passing of Bev on January 15, 2019 at the age of 80 years. She was predeceased by her parents Leonard and Winifred (Eastman) Blakely. Bev is survived by two children Heather (Comox BC) and Deanne (Regina); three siblings Charlene (Edmonton), Valerie (Didsbury), and Douglas (Regina); three grandchildren Russell (Comox) Sarah Anne (Comox) Dillon (Regina); and her cat Zeus (Vicki). Bev graduated as an RN from the Regina General Hospital in 1960. She nursed in SK and ON for several years before teaching nursing and becoming a Curriculum Developer for technical colleges. Bev loved gardening, knitting, and her cats and she was a generous person. Bev had both of her hips replaced and had limited mobility. Bev would like to thank the many citizens of Regina who held doors open for her and helped her across icy parking lots. She would like to thank the staff at stores who helped her find things and to put her groceries and parcels in her car. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff for their care and compassion during the five weeks she was a patient in the ICU, CCU, and Ward 6F at the General Hospital. At Bev’s request there will be no funeral. A Remembrance Tea will be held at her daughter’s house in Regina on Saturday, January 26,2019 from 1:00 to 4:00pm. A private interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Regina Humane Society.
