Obituary for Aune Jokela (Hyvarinen)
JOKELA, AUNE (NEE HYVARINEN)
It’s with saddened hearts that our family announces the passing of our beloved wife, Aiti and Mummo on Sunday, January 13th, 2019. She was born in Karmejoki Maaninka, Finland on July 6, 1931 to Eelis and Elina Hyvarinen. Loving wife of 62 years to Eino Antero Jokela. Beloved Aiti (mom) to Marlene Doniec (Gregg), Ken Jokela (Wendy), Danny Jokela (Leanna) all of Sudbury. Mummo to Russell, Kyle (Olivia and children Abygail and Graycie), Kelsi-Bri (Bradley) and Leisha (Phil). Dear sister of Anni predeceased, Tauno predeceased and Sirkka, Topi, Veikko, Tyyne and Pentti all of Finland.
Our Aiti immigrated to Canada in 1956 to start a new life. She worked tirelessly for her family. She loved her home to be spotless and made the best Finnish Pulla. She loved spending time at Penage Lake with family eating smoked fish and having saunas, it was always the highlight of the summer.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff that looked after our Aiti for the past 5 years at Finlandia Village Nursing Home.
A private family service will be held. Donations to the Finlandia SISU Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home.
