OBITUARY
Althea Louise Nichols
October 29, 1938 – January 3, 2019
Althea Louise Nichols – Age 80 of Freeport, passed away January 3, 2019 at Little Dolphin Senior Care, Mavillette with her friend and caregiver, Shelly at her side.
Born in Rossway, Digby Co., she was the daughter of the late Arthur Nichols and Christina (Prime) Cann. Over the years Althea worked in the local fish plants at Small Brothers and Connor Brothers. She was content to be at home where she loved to talk on the phone, go for walks, pick berries and knit, especially for all the babies on the island. Althea loved talking to everyone and she could tell you all about her family history and also the history of the Islands. She was a member of Freeport Baptist Church. Althea’s greatest joy was finding and meeting her daughter Emily.
Althea is survived by daughter, Emily (Fred) Gardener; brothers, Gordon (Ada “Marie” Nichols, Alfred Cann; nephews, Mark, Colin, Robert, Richard, Cecil; nieces, Christina (Larry), Susan (Jim); great-nephews, Christopher (Alicia), Daniel, Mathew; step great-nephew, Ronnie; great-great niece, Catalaya; step great-great nephews, Kyle and Chauncy.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her step-father, Charles Cann.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 Tuesday January 8 at Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 Wednesday January 9 at Freeport Baptist Church, where the service will be held at 2pm on Thursday January 10. Pastor Jeff White will preside. Interment in Brookside Cemetery.
