Alan Henry Anderson, age 66, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at Hillside Manor on January 3, 2019. Born in Stratford, September 25, 1952, son of the late Joe and Dawn (Parr) Anderson.
Alan was a member of the L’Arche Stratford Community since May 29, 1977 and will be greatly missed by his L’Arche family. Alan’s outgoing nature and wonderful sense of humour endeared him to many. In all areas of life whether work, volunteering, hobbies or in his friendships with family and friends, Alan exhibited faithfulness, devotion and a strong work ethic. His spirituality was ever present in his artwork, love of gospel hymns and his faithful presence as an altar server at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Through his involvement with Community Living Stratford and Area and his jobs at LCBO, doing laundry for local health care professionals, and the Habitat for Humanity Re-Store, Alan was well respected. Alan had a passion to help others as well as a deep love of WWF/WWE wrestling. Through his passion, determination and independence Alan left a lasting impact on many leaving many hearts transformed.
Loving brother of Earl Anderson (Susan), Alice Mainland (Richard), Brian Anderson (Pam), Yvonne McCann (Don) and Barry Anderson (Connie). Also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Friends and relatives will be received at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford on Monday, January 7, from 6-8 p.m. L’Arche Stratford will hold a Celebration of Life prayer service starting at 6 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 8th at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with a reception to follow. Interment at Avondale Cemetery.
