Agnes Mina Anderson passed away peacefully at the Citadel Care Centre in St. Albert at the age of 95 on December 9th, 2018.
She is survived by sons Neil (Trish Lawton), Terry (Elaine), daughter Joan Ritchie (Bruce), grandchildren Tracy (Mrwan Taha), Karen (Cody Faires), Danielle, Angela (Elliot MacLean), Terri Maio (Shane), Richard (Becky), Steven, Victoria (Josh Hockin), Kathryn, Arlin Ritchie (Becky), Curtis Ritchie, Shauna Fankhauser (Josh) and 12 great-grandchildren, brother Francis ton and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her 1st husband of 36 years, Albert, and her 2nd husband, Jim Fletcher, her son Verl, sister Uldene and brothers Vincent, Raymond and Edgar.
Agnes was born on a homestead near Goodfare, Alberta on March 26, 1923. She spent the majority of her life in the Peace Country living in Goodfare, Wembley, and Beaverlodge. In her later life she moved to St Albert, Alberta to be closer to her family. Agnes was a devoted mother and grandmother and a loyal friend. She was also an active member of her community, volunteering many hours for various organizations including the Ladies’ Aid, Hospital Auxiliary, and Seniors Center. She had a great love of books and reading and worked as a librarian in Wembley as well as Beaverlodge. Agnes was an avid gardener and was known throughout the country for her beautiful gardens and bountiful fruits and vegetables. Her family has warm memories of the wonderful meals she prepared from her own produce. She also enjoyed spinning and weaving and shared her enjoyment by teaching others to weave. Everyone who knew her was blessed by her warm smile and gentle personality.
In accordance with Agnes’ wishes a memorial service and interment of her ashes will take place in late spring at the Gimle Cemetery near Beaverlodge, Alberta.
The family would like to thank the caring and compassionate staff at the Citadel Care Centre in St. Albert as well as Dr. Jim Bell for the wonderful care that she received.
