Arthur Mielke, age 89 of Stratford, passed away at Stratford General Hospital on Thursday, January 3, 2019. Born in Ellice Township, son of the late Gustave Mielke and Minnie (Koops).
Beloved husband of Mabel (Stahlke) whom he married July 18, 1958. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. He worked at Whyte Packing Company and at Dura (formerly Dominion Chain) until his retirement.
Loving father of Karen Sherwood. Dear grandfather of Jessica Sherwood, Crystal and Katelyn Mielke. Dear brother of Fred Mielke and Florence Priestap. Brother-in-law of Shirley and Alvin Cooke. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son Brian (2017), father and mother-in-law Frank and Irene Stahlke, brothers and sisters-in-law Walter Mielke (Edna), Albert Mielke and Dorothy Mielke, sisters and brothers-in-law Alma Doell (Lawrence), Dorothy Nowack (Richard), Mary Diegel (Wilfred), Martha Brickman (Clarence), Ester Nowack (Clayton) and Harvey Priestap, sisters-in-law, Doris Rempel, Viola Lange and husband Adolph and Bertha Sieling.
Friends may call at the W.G Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford, on Sunday, January 6th from 1-4 p.m. The funeral service will take place at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 115 Cambria Street, Stratford on Monday, January 7th at 11 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. A reception will take place at the church following the interment in Avondale Cemetery. Rev. William Ney will officiate.
