Helen Maureen Hanniman
(Ryan)
February 19th, 1937 – January 24th, 2019
Peacefully, on January 24th, 2019 after courageously resisting the devastating effects of dementia and diabetes. Helen is survived by Merv, her loving husband for more than 55 years as well as by her sons and daughters-in-law Chris and Krista, Terry and Natalie and Bill and Valerie. She will also be greatly missed by her granddaughters Emily, Julianne, Laura, Sara and Charlotte; her sister Theresa Moore; her sisters-in law Lola Dick, Loretta Reichle, Alma Hanniman, Shirley Ryan and her brother-in-law Albert Kubiseski.
Helen, a Renfrew native, was predeceased by son Patrick; sisters Bernie, Eileen and Kay; and brothers Joe, Robert, Fr. Bill, S.J. and Fr. Jim, OMI. She was the favourite aunt of many nieces and nephews and was much loved by all members of the Hanniman / Ryan families.
Although we will all deeply miss Helen, we will be forever grateful for the unselfish love, kindness and important family values she gave to us. Her beautiful infectious smile and her cheerful disposition will not be forgotten. It is now time for her to rest in the peace of our Heavenly Father.
Visitation will be at McEvoy-Shields Funeral Home, 1411 Hunt Club Road, from 1-3 pm and 7-9 pm on Sunday, January 27th, 2019. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Cross Church, 685 Walkley Road, at 11:00am on Monday, January 28th, 2019.
The family would like to thank the staff of Alta Vista Manor for their compassionate care of Helen over the past 6 months. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society or Diabetes Canada would be gratefully appreciated.
