(February 17, 1927 – January 21, 2019)
Passed away peacefully on January 21st just shy of her 92nd birthday at Garden Terrace long term care nursing home in Kanata, ON. Predeceased by husband Edric Carlton Shim (Boysie). Much loved sister of Kelvin (dec.), Kenneth, Horace (dec.), Barbara Allum Poon, William Jr.(dec.), Bruce and Cyril. Loving mother of Wendy Hope (Andrew), Marisa Lum You (Ian), Edric (Sharon) and Andrew (Myrka). Cherished grandmother of four: Kristyn, Rianne, Delaney and Elise. A private family pre-cremation service will be held in Ottawa at Tubman Garden Chapel followed by a funeral mass for family and friends at Saint Matthew’s Catholic Church in Oakville on February 7. A final memorial service and interment will be held in Trinidad in early March. The family is especially appreciative of the excellent care Maureen received from the staff at Garden Terrace. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to your local Alzheimers or Dementia Society.
