It is with great sadness that the family of Frank John Jansen announce his passing, on January 13, 2019, in Edmonton at the age of 94 years.
He is survived by 5 brothers, Peter (Phyllis) Jansen, John (Helen) Jansen, Jerome (Valeria) Jansen, James Jansen, Ray (Brenda) Jansen; 4 sisters, Ann Jansen, Jeanette (Tony) Kollman, Agnes Flanagan, Gen (Harold) Kennedy; sister-in-law Vera MacNeil; 4 stepsons, Terrance Stewart, Daniel (Jocelyn) Stewart, James (Deb) Stewart, Michael (Rachelle) Stewart; daughter-in-law, Gail Dougall; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grand-daughter, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Kathleen (2002); father, John (1984); mother, Appolonia (2006); 1 brother, Ben Jansen; 3 sisters, Marie Mildenberger, Theresa Mitchell, Dolores Jansen; 5 brothers-in-law, Donald Mildenberger, Leo Mitchell, Dave Dundon, Irl Flanagan, Jack Maze; 2 sisters-in-law, Viva Jansen, Val Jansen; 2 step-sons, Anthony Stewart, Patrick Stewart; and 3 nephews, Michael Mildenberger, Tim Mildenberger, Chad Jansen.
He was born September 18, 1924, on the family farm near Denzil, Saskatchewan. Frank filled his 94 years with gusto. He was a young farmhand for his parents and various aunts and uncles. He was a gifted hockey player drafted by the Detroit Redwings.
He was a seminary scholar and Roman Catholic Priest. He was an educator and school principal. He was an addictions counselor with Alberta Health Services. He was a son, brother, husband, stepdad, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. He lived in Saskatchewan, Ontario, California, Washington State, and Alberta.
