family of Dorothy “Dot” Elizabeth Howard, age 82, of
Coldbrook, Kings County, announce her passing on Wednesday, January
10, 2019. Born May 7, 1936, in Sweet’s Corner,
Hants County, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Ethel
(MacLeod) Spence. She will be missed dearly by her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela (Richard) Biggs, Halifax;
son-in-law, James (Jimmy) Rose of Berwick; her pride and joy
grandchildren, Emma, Derek, Emily, Sara, Maggie and Luke; her loyal 4
legged companion, Casey; her brothers, Reginald, St. Croix;
Ernest (Shirley), St. Croix; her sisters, Joan (late Percy), Falmouth;
Shirley Ann (Gary), Cape Breton; Faye (late Fred), Cape
Breton and Leola, Windsor. She was predeceased by her husband of 58
years, Eugene Cleveland Howard; daughter, Kimberley Rose; her
brothers, Frank Jr, Eric, and Robert. Dorothy had a long
career with the Municipality of West Hants before retiring to focus on
her most important job of being Super “Nanny”. She
enjoyed many hours/years watching her grandchildren at the rink
playing hockey or ringette, in a gym playing basketball, or on the
sidelines cheering at soccer and football fields. She loved
her family beyond words. She was a life long Toronto Maple Leafs fan
who also enjoyed square dancing with Gene, having lunch with Gene and
anyone who wanted to join them (their fav was the Zellers restaurant
or the Big Stop), playing Bingo with her grandchildren, crossword
puzzles, games on her tablet, scratch tickets and family gatherings.
There will be no
visitation and family flowers only, by request. A private
family graveside service to be held in the St. Croix Cemetery.
Donations in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Canadian
Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to White Family
Funeral Home,
