Russell William Nielsen
Russell William Nielsen, most recently of Spirit River, AB, quickly passed away on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at the U of A Hospital in Edmonton, at the age of 67 years.
Russell was born on October 23, 1951 in McLennan, AB. He grew up on a family farm near Watino, AB. He spent some time at CN Rail Engineering Group, in the Yukon doing Seismic Engineering, and many years in Grande Prairie and across North Western Alberta as a Heavy Equipment Technician.
Russell really enjoyed spending time on Vancouver Island, whenever possible. Gold panning and enjoying the ocean air with his canine friend, Charlie, were among his favorite past times.
Russell is survived by his son Daylon (Sonia) Nielsen; daughter Christina Thoreson; 5 grandchildren: Dayton, Kashten, Dustin, Jordan and Emma; brother Paul (Louise) Nielsen; sister Kay Heck; as well as many nieces, nephews and other family members.
A Celebration of Life and burial for the late Russell William Nielsen will be held in the Spring at Watino, AB where Russell chose to be buried alongside his parents, Paul and Helen (Enns) Nielsen and his sister, Ellen Schramm.
