Obituary Eberhardt, Zinnie 1939-2015
It is with sadness that we announce the repose of our beloved Wife, Mother and Grandmother, Zinnie Eberhardt at the age of 78, in the city of Calgary Alberta on May 15, 2018. She will be forever remembered by husband, Floyd Eberhardt, children Holly and Daryl Egan, Mark and Erin Eberhardt. Grandchilden, Taylor Egan (24) and Morgan Eberhardt (8), Brother John and Kay Nabozniak, Sister Dorothy and reposed brother Russell Nabozniak, Sister Nadia and Don Thiessen, Sister-in Law Judi and reposed (Ron) Propp, in addition to many extended family and friends. Please join us this Saturday, May 19 @ 11am for a final wish of peaceful rest and to share her life’s artwork at EdenBrook Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, (west of Calgary off old Springbank Road). Followed by a light lunch and graveside service for her final resting place overlooking the mountains with close family and friends. Service and Burial Site Address is: 24223 Township Rd 242, Calgary, AB T3Z 3K2
Zinnie lived a full life, taking care of the family business, children, grandchildren and while volunteering to support Church, School and Community Programs. She was always there for her kids and grandchildren’s performances, games or special occasions and enjoyed being outdoors with her husband Floyd, camping, fishing, sledding, exploring the local Mountains and Alberta Foothills. In addition to regular demands, Zinnie found time to sew some incredible outfits for herself and children. Her mastery of clothing design was exemplified in Holly’s exquisite custom wedding dress, made from Italian silk and French lace. Once her children were grown, Zinnie continued to follow her creative passions. She completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Alberta College of Art in 1989. She then went on to become a prolific and successful artist for the next 20 years. As a part time care giver for, Grandson Taylor, he was able to explore his artsy side at her art studio downtown on 8th Ave across from the Glenbow. When her studio was converted to the new convention centre, she went on to establish new relationships and business colleagues at her second studio in Northhill. After their 40th Wedding Anniversary, Zinnie and Floyd set out on multiple excursions to Mexico and Hawaii. Turning her life down a notch, in her last decade Zinnie, closed her studio and went onto enjoy being a Baba to her Granddaughter Morgan, sharing in many milestone experiences. She also managed to get to her bucket list, traveling to destinations such as Paris and Greece. Her most cherished memory besides her family, was to meet the Patriarch of the Orthodox Church in Turkey. It is with awe and sadness that we will miss her scholastic wisdom and self-care insight. Particularly her intuitive understanding of the body’s reaction to food and environmental allergies that impacted her entire life. Since Zinnie was an avid Gardener, photographer and painter of flowers, we would encourage you to bring potted flowers instead of cut arrangements so they can be planted in her garden. Alternatively, donations can also be made to Cancer research, Palliative Care/Hospice or Women’s Programs in her honour. May her memory be eternal.

  1. What a beautiful tribute to your wife and mother! I am so sorry for your loss. Zinnie and my Mom had such a great relationship and now they are back together with no pain! Although the occasion was sad, it was wonderful seeing everyone.
