Winnifred E. Sears
Winnifred E. Sears,
96, of Fundy Royal Manor, Hillsborough and formerly of Westmount
Blvd., Moncton and Riverview, passed away peacefully at her residence
on Thursday, October 25, 2018. Born in Moncton, daughter of
the late Chipman and Helen (Trites)
(Cormie).
Winnifred was a graduate of
Moncton High School and Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing
Class of 1945. Following her marriage, she lived in Saint John,
Halifax, St. John’s, NF and Montreal. Before living in
Moncton, at the time of her husband’s retirement. Always
interested in the BaptistChurch and U.B.W.M.U. Missions. While in
Newfoundland she served as Provincial Secretary. She was a Provincial
member of the U.B.W.M.U. and a Dominion Life Member. Nursing was her
great love, and after settling in Moncton, returned to nursing and
worked at The Moncton Hospital for 25 years in special areas such as
labour & delivery, recovery and day surgery. Following
retirement, did volunteer work in the Katherine Wright Wellness
Centre. She loved needlework and her home was tastefully decorated
with many beautiful pictures and chairs. Following her
husband’s transfer to Moncton, she and her husband became
members of Brentwood Baptist Church and in later years, members of
Jones Lake Baptist Church. She loved her church and was the first
female Deacon to be appointed. She was also the longest serving choir
member with 35 years service. She was a very special lady, being
extremely noted for her kind and generous spirit which made her much
loved by her family and friends. She will be remembered by all who
knew her.
Winnifred is survived by her
daughter, Elizabeth McFadden Wilson (Jerry) of Upper Coverdale;
grandchildren, Scott McFadden (Jennifer), Benjamin McFadden (Nicole)
and Karolyn Davies (Stuart); great grandchildren, Ethan, Ryan, Kyle,
Taylor, Jordan, Nolan, Amelia and Lauren as well as several extended
family members.
In addition to her parents, she
was predeceased by her husband, Frederick “Fred” Sears
(November 2012); two great grandchildren, Faith and Lawrence McFadden;
sisters, Patricia, Evelyn and Helen; brothers, Russell and
Roy.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral
Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Tuesday from 6:00 to
9:00 pm. A Service of thanksgiving and celebration of
Winnifred’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home
Chapel on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at 10:30 am with Rev. Dr. Robert
Knowles officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception
Centre following the service. Interment will be in Fair Haven Memorial
Gardens.
