WILLIAMSON Ronald B —

WILLIAMSON, Ronald B.

Ronald passed away peacefully in West Kelowna at the age of 83 on Dec 18th, 2017 with family by his side. He was predeceased by his wife of 41 years, Josephine Williamson and son, David Jon Williamson (Bev). He will be greatly missed by his daughter Natasha Williamson (Gabe), son Jim Williamson; stepsons John Snyder (Barb), Joey Snyders (Pat), Jim Snyders (Brenda) and Ernie Snyders (Elisa); brothers Jim Wilson (Ruth) and Duke Wilson; grandchildren Dylan, Austin, Niki, Michael, Melissa, Hailyne, Tracy, Todd, Carrie, Sara, Eddie, Willy, Loralynn, Lisa, Jason, Terri and Christopher; nieces and nephews Debbie, Elisa, Amanda, Christian, Marijke, Carla, Bo and Ger; surviving mother of his 2 son’s Rosemary Turriff.
Ron was born in Toronto on Feb 14th, 1934 with the gift of musical talent and a big, caring heart for others. Being raised within the faith of the Salvation Army refined these gifts. His love for music and caring for people shone throughout his daily life. He spent his first 30 years working and playing music in Southern Ontario. He met his wife Josephine in Kitchener, Waterloo. Together they moved out West and settled in Oliver, BC to raise their daughter, Natasha. Over the years in Oliver, Ron did custodial work at Tuc-el-Nuit school, was a produce manager at the IGA, but finished working when he retired in the late 1990’s from Oliver Parks and Recreation where he maintained the Arena and Community Center. In the evenings and weekends, Ron kept busy teaching private piano and trumpet lessons, playing in his family band at the legion or various events and playing the trumpet on Sundays at the United Church. Ron had presence. When he walked in a room of people who met him before, you would instantly see their face light up. Whether he was on the stage playing his trumpet or at the post office checking his mail, he would lift your spirits, leave you with a happy thought and light in your heart. His family, friends and neighbors will miss his positive outlook on life, charismatic charm and silly sense of humor.
The family would like to thank the exceptional care he received from staff and volunteers at Brookhaven Care Center.
A celebration of Ron’s life will be announced at a later date to be held in the summer of 2018.
Memorial donations can be made to The Alzheimer’s Society of BC, The BC Cancer Foundation or The Salvation Army.
