William VanLImbeek January 2 1938 November 8 2018

Bill was a big man, with even a bigger heart who would do anything for his family and friends, expecting nothing in return. Always ready for a challenge or adventure, Bill came to Canada from Holland when he was 18.
He was a hard worker, his word was his bond. He eventually ended up in Fort Smith, NWT. He married Joey Kaeser, built a house, raised a family and eventually started his own business—The Flying Dutchman Bus Company.
He enjoyed being recognized by adults he didn’t recognize who said, “Hey, I remember you when you drove our school bus.” He was a memorable man.
He moved to his acreage in Penticton in the mid 80’s where he became a (short term) orchardist. He was predeceased by Joey in 1999.
Bill loved his family. He was especially proud of son, John (Becky, Derek, Matthew) and his accomplishments as a family man, hunter and business man. He is also survived by daughter, Denise (Zak, Kaiya). The real sunshine of his life was daughter, Yolanda (Sean Callahan, Dalton, Ethan, Aila). Holidays in Germany, Holland, the Carribean and Hawaii were better because they were shared with Yolanda.
When Bill married Teri in 2005 he acquired two more daughters and their families. Peggy (Alan Maybee, Quinn) showed him life on Vancouver Island and he hosted them at the “Resort” in Summerland. Jeanie (Aaron Sunderland, Aethan, Cole) introduced them to winter in Quebec and Petawawa. The grandkids were finally ready to let Opa have some of their curls! He loved his time with them.
His gruff façade did not stop him from being a welcoming host at the “Resort” on Bristow Road for friends and family from near and far. Never would he admit that he really liked being the genial host!
Bill’s favourite greeting—“Hey, easy money” will be missed by all who knew him. His joy of life and acceptance of what life dealt him defined the man we all knew and loved. He was a devoted, loving husband, father, Opa and loyal friend to many.
A good friend, a good father, a good husband—a good man.
A celebration of his life will be held in the summer 2019. Donations to the Cancer Society in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.
