Life Story for William Ferguson “Bill” Kerr
KERR, William Ferguson – Passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at the age of 94 on Monday, January 8th, 2018 at the G.N.G.H. He leaves to mourn his wife of 71 years Ellen (Lowes) Kerr. Fondly remembered by his children Rob (Bob) and Joan Kerr and Deb and Tom Free. Cherished grandfather of Allyson, Mike, Brian, Ashley, Sarah, Carolyn, Darren and Andrea. “Papa Bill” to his precious great grandchildren Ethan, Brianna, Grayson, Keira, Denver and Emily. Predeceased by his parents James and Mary Kerr and his siblings Sam (Ann) Kerr, Margaret (Peggy) Hare, Susan (Bill) Sandall, Jim (Rita) Kerr and his twin sister Elizabeth who died in infancy. Bill was born in Dreghorn, Scotland and came to Canada at the age of 6. He proudly served in World War 11 in the Royal Canadian Dragoons, First Canadian Division. After the war Bill was employed at the Cyanamid of Canada Welland Plant. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 51. He was also a member of the Cyanamid 25 Year Club.
Bill is resting at Morse & Son Funeral Home at 5917 Main Street. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 14th from 2-4 and 7-9. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 15th in the chapel at Morse & Son with interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy Bill’s family would suggest donations to The Salvation Army or War Amps.
