STEVENS, William (Bill) Walter Harry “Turtle”
Bill Stevens died peacefully, with family by his side, at North Bay Regional Health Centre, on Friday, December 7, 2018. He was in his 86th year. Bill was predeceased by his wives Joan (Leigh), Thelma (Brown) and Gloria (Newhall); his parents Margaret (MacMillan) and Walter Stevens; and his siblings Jack Stevens and Anna Frederick. He was the beloved father of Sherry Young (Terry) of Powassan, Sandy Thorne (Robert) of Burk’s Falls, Shirley St. Denis of Powassan, Tammy Buckaway of Toronto, Elizabeth Wiseman (Shane) of Scarborough, Barb Stevens of Massey, Willy Stevens (Jennie) of North Bay, Kelly Stanley (Heidi) of Astorville and Shane Stanley (Rhonda) of North Bay; Grandfather of 25 and great-grandfather of 30. Bill will be fondly remembered by his many friends by his CB handle “Turtle”, as he was known while a driver for Manitoulin Transport (retired), in pool tournaments at Partners Billiards, and as a past president of Powassan Minor Hockey (1975). Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Bill’s life will be announced at a later date.
