Mr. William Melnyk of Big Valley, Alberta, passed away peacefully in the presence of his daughters, after a six month stay at the Brooks Health Centre, on Friday, July 8, 2016, at the age of 93 years. Bill, a life-long farmer in Big Valley, was dedicated to his family, his farm, his many friends, and his Christian beliefs. He is survived by his brother, John (May) of Calgary; two daughters, Joyce (Hendrik Kiliaan) Melnyk of Edmonton and Gloria (Warren) Fukuda of Patricia; daughter-in-law, Donna (Miles) Severn (nee Primrose); eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, as well as a large extended family and a multitude of friends. He is predeceased by wife, Alberta (nee Romane); wife, Margaret (nee MacMillan); son, William Harry; and older brother, Nestor “Chic” (Olive). A Viewing and time for personal prayer will take place at Christ-King Catholic Church, 4916 – 54 Street, Stettler, Alberta on Thursday, July 14, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ-King Catholic Church on Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Donatus Ihekwoaba, Celebrant. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Stettler, Alberta. A Reception and Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at the Big Valley Jubilee Hall on Thursday, July 14, 2016 starting at 2:30 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donation may be directed to S.T.A.R.S., the Royal Canadian Legion, or a Charity of Donor’s Choice.
