Wilbert “Steve” Stagg
1947-2019
It is with
great sadness that the family of Wilbert “Steve”
Stagg announces his passing, which occurred on Monday, December 17,
2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on May 10,
1947 in Saint John, he was the son of the late Wilbert John Stagg and
Mary Edith (Legacy) (Stagg) Bennett.
Prior to his
retirement, Steve worked for 30 plus years as a Rigger at the Saint
John Dry Dock. He always treasured the times spent with his
family who were his world. Steve also enjoyed fishing,
hunting, four-wheeling, playing his guitar and winning at the
Casino.
Steve is
survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Van Beelen; children, Peter Stagg
(Beth) and Jennifer Hanlon (Jared); previous wife, Glenda Belyea;
grandchildren, Mathew, Jacob, Kathryn and Liam; step-children, Chris
Van Beelen, Kevin Van Beelen (Amber) and Stephen Van Beelen (Robin);
grandchildren, Justin, Bryanna, Alex, Sandrina, Brooke and Cameron;
sisters, Shirley O’Brien (the late Donnie), Carol Long (the
late David), Barb Cogswell (Rick) and Marilyn Somers (Don); brother,
Wayne Stagg (Judy); as well as many nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Arrangements
are under the care and direction of Brenan’s
Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424)
with visiting on Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8
PM. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s
Chapel on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 10:00
AM.
For those who
wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s
choice.
