Obituary of Walter Monk
MONK, Walter
Passed away at Emmanuel House on Sunday April 1, 2018 after a short, but hard battle with cancer. Walter was a loving husband to Denise “Penny” for 39 years. Loving dad to Claire and her husband Anand, Catherine and her husband Frank. Grandad to Desmond, Grampie to Cassandra (Patrick), Katie, and Great Grampie to Kiana and Kalib. Dear brother to Cathy and the late Elaine. He will be sadly missed by all of his family and friends here in Canada and the U.K. Walter came to Canada in 1974 and worked as an electrician. Finally settling in Hamilton, he became a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 622, which became an important part of his life, especially sitting at the Bull Table, he worked his way up to 1st Vice. Walter will be in our hearts and thoughts always. (see you with a screw driver in hand, taking things apart). Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at the Donald V. Brown Funeral Home, 36 Lake Avenue Drive, Stoney Creek, on Thursday from 7-9 p.m. The Funeral Service and Legion Honours will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 12 noon. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Flowers are gratefully declined, as an expression of sympathy, donations to Emmanuel House would be appreciated.
