It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Walter Joseph Goguen which occurred at his residence on Monday, December 24th, 2018. Born in Saint John on May 29, 1955, he was the son of the late Walter and Rosella Marie (Gallant) Goguen.
Walter spent his entire working career caring for others as an LPN having dedicated over 25 years at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Following his retirement, he continued to help others at Kennebec Manor and Shannex.
In his spare time, Walter enjoyed many things but first and foremost was his love for the outdoors. He shared a passion of hunting, fishing and wood carving. Walter was an avid and life long Montreal Canadiens fan but above all, he was a friend to many would do anything for anyone.
Walter is survived by his fiancé Stella Goguen and his children: Michael (Stephanie Parent) of Saint John, Mark (Jennifer) of Halifax and Joe (Kylie) of Edmonton, step daughters: Bretannie Loveland (Russell) of Maine and Carol Parkinson (Shane) of Saint John. He will be forever missed by his 5 sisters: Evelyn O’Brien (John) of Quincey, Mass, Marion Gilliland (Leonard) of Kingston Peninsula, Roberta Lewis (Freeman) of Saint John, Elizabeth Leger (Gerald) of Willow Grove and Christina Lynch (Douglas) of Saint John as well as several nephews & nieces, great nephews & nieces.
Also left to mourn are his 10 grandchildren: Joshua, Connor, Rowan, Harper, Deacon, Samara, Wyatt, Sashana, Estelle and Chloe.
In addition to his parents, Walter is predeceased by his brother Donald and sisters: Rose Mary Lodge and Diane Calhoun.
In keeping with Walter’s wishes, there will be no formal visitation or funeral service. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date.
Final arrangements have been entrusted to the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424).
