September 1, 1955 – May 1, 2018
Vinetta Joan Murray age 62, of smith, Alberta, passed away at home on May 1st,2018 with her loving husband Bob at her side.
Vinetta was born September 1st,1955 in Tennecape, Nova Scotia to Robbie Maxwell and Evelyn Margaret (Huntley) Patterson. She grew up in Nova Scotia surrounded by her 14 siblings before moving across Canada to take on n new adventures. She would meet the love of her life, Bob, in 1977 after moving to Grande Prairie and they would later marry on August 6, 1979. Eventually they settled1 in Forestburg, Alberta where they would raise their two children, Maxwell and Ashley. But Grande Prairie called them back and they would return in 1999 to build their dream home in the country.
Vinetta took everything she did head on and with great pride. Over her lifetime she would be a pharmacy technician, business partner, restauranteur, gas tester, and coach. The job that gave her the most joy in the end would be as an educational assistant at Robert W. Zahara school where she was known as the school’s Nana. It was here that Vinetta created many new friendships that will be cherished forever.
Vinetta was extremely proud of the family she and Bob created. Maxwell and Ashley kept her busy with their various activities and she was their greatest cheerleader. Not content just sitting on the sidelines she would often get involved by coaching, leading field trips, baking, and carpooling. Her cheering and love would carry on when her grandbabies arrived. Being Nana was one of her most prized roles.
When she wasn’t busy with her family, Vinetta enjoyed gardening, baking, reading, scrapbooking, and visiting with friends.
Vinetta faced her greatest opponent in 2014 when she was diagnosed with cancer. Over the next four years she demonstrated immense strength and courage. She was a fighter and will forever be remembered for her optimism, laughter, and ability to make every situation easier for others.
Vinetta will be greatly missed and remembered by her husband Bob, son Maxwell (Hanna), daughter Ashley (Jeff), and grandchildren Jake, Liv, Ty, and Evi; as well as brothers: Bev (Marcia), Gene (Cecelia), Joe (Gayle), Ferry (Janet), Eric (Kelly), Glen (Joy), Loran (Annette), Darren; and sisters: Pat and Janette (Ernie); as well as multiple nieces and nephews, co-workers, and friends.
Vinetta was predeceased by her father R. Maxwell, mother Evelyn, sister Harriet, and brothers Edward, Len, and Clarence.
A service for Vinetta will held at Webster Community Hall, Webster, Alberta on May 9th, 2018 at 1pm.
