Vernon John McKeown 2018

OBITUARY
Vernon John McKeown
June 4, 1930 – August 30, 2018
On Thursday, August 30, 2018 Vern passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband to Yvonne “Bonnie” Janes (2003) for 48 years and Eleanor Marleau (2016). Vern was the beloved father of Gail and Scott (Cathy) McKeown and the cherished grandfather of Jennifer and Laura. He was a devoted and caring brother to his sister Lorene and her sons John and Glen Broll. He is predeceased by his brothers Roy and Norman.
Vern and Bonnie moved to Peterborough in 1962 where he established McKeown’s Appliances. He later became a realtor for Bowes and Cocks. Vern had a passion for golf and was a member of the Peterborough Golf and Country Club for 40 years. He enjoyed holidaying in St. Petersburg, Florida for the winters. Vern was a kind and honest man with a great sense of humour. He was a gentleman among men. He will be greatly missed. The family wish to thank Dr. Silverberg and the warm and compassionate staff of Lakefield Extendicare, and sincere gratitude to cardiologist Dr. Bill Hughes and his staff for looking after Vern for 30 years. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
