Obituary of Verna Matches
MATCHES, Verna Eloise peacefully surrounded by her family at Grey Bruce Health Services, Owen Sound on Saturday afternoon October 20, 2018. Verna Matches (nee McMullen) of Park Head in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late Ivan Matches (2016). Cherished mother of Carol and her husband Bill Stewart of Owen Sound, Doug and his wife Nancy of Park Head, Sharon and her husband Patric McKenzie of Owen Sound, Dennis and his wife Joanne of Park Head, John and his wife Candi of Jackson, Brenda and her husband Peter Scott of Owen Sound, Jim and his wife Wendy of Park Head, David of Park Head and Kathy and her husband Craig Cameron of East Linton. Cherished grandmother of 25 and great grandmother of 18. Dear sister-in-law of Joan McMullen of Kitchener. Predeceased by parents Edith (Cleaver) and Daniel McMullen brothers Harvey, Leslie (Iris), Ray (Blanche) and Ross, brother-in-law Kelland Matches (Margaret) and 2 great grandchildren. Friends may call at the DOWNS AND SON FUNERAL HOME, Hepworth on Wednesday from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted from the Sauble Beach United Church on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Herb Klaehn officiating. Interment Hillcrest Cemetery, Tara. Expressions of remembrance to the Park Head United Church would be appreciated.
