Thomas Edward Beauchamp, was born in Shoal River to his parents, George and Mary Beauchamp (nee Brass) on April 27th, 1934 and his life journey ended in the early morning hours on December 3, 2018 at the Swan Valley Personal Care Home.
Thomas’s life began as a young man, who was taught to work hard, live life to the fullest, to be respectful, to be humble and to be kind to all he met. Tom was one of twenty-four children, and his loving parents raised an additional two young boys, Joseph and Edward Guiboche. This taught Thomas to stand and be strong at a very young age, while working along side his father in many capacities.
He was a hardworking man, and he helped in the commercial fishing industry for many years in many places including Yellowknife, NWT, Lake Winnipeg, Lake Winnipegosis and Lake Manitoba.
Thomas’s stories of his life experiences were humorous and descriptive and he enjoyed making people laugh with his many tales of adventure with his many friends.
Thomas met and married Ethel Beauchamp (nee Genaille) and they left Shoal River, and lived in Winnipeg till his wife passed in June 2013. Thomas continued to reside in the city with his step-son, Shawn Beauchamp. His life was always busy visiting friends and many friends dropped in on him from his homeland and he welcomed each and everyone. He enjoyed playing bingo at many halls in the city. He returned to “Shoal River” often to visit and on one September day in 2016, he came for his visit, he got very ill and stayed at the Rehabilitation unit in Swan River for three months. With much thought, he decided to begin his life in a personal care setting. His first choice of stay was not available and he stayed at the Winnipegosis Personal Care Home for several months, and when his first choice became available, he arrived in Swan River in June 2018.
Thomas loved visits from his daughter and step-son, and despite his occasional bout of loneliness, his stories of humour were always ready. He loved watching baseball, hockey, football, curling and soccer with his step-son Shawn most weekends.
He leaves to mourn his sisters Marian Aliberti (Frank), Val Wells (Richard Thomas) and his brother, Henry, his children Caroline (Edmond) Quill, Darren (Andrea) Leask and Janice Leask, his grandchildren Beau, Ryan, Sara (Wayne), Carla, Marcia (Rudy), Alexandra (John) Sanderson, Alexis Leask (Kaelan), Arvelle Leask, Brittany, Jenna and Jordan Leask
Thomas leaves to mourn many nieces and nephews and each have a special place in their hearts for their uncle Tom. Thomas’s great grandchildren and great grandchildren would have been privileged to meet him with that special twinkle in his eyes.
Thomas joins both parents, George and Mary, his brother Charles and David, his chosen brother Edward, his sisters, Myrtle, Rachel, Annabelle, Ruby and many infant brothers and sisters.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Thomas Edward Beauchamp April 27 1936 December 3 2018 (age 82)..
