December 13, 1920 – November 16, 2018 Therese was born in Nikinci the former Yugoslavia. She was predeceased by her husbands Henry Keil (2005) and Joseph Schwartz (1981). Dearest Mother of Karl-Charlie (Carol); Frank (Jayne). Stepmother of Tony Keil (Lois) Pennsylvania. Sweetest Oma to Kristina (David); Michael (Mary). Precious Great-Oma to Joshua, Ashley, Zack, Emma and Cole. Caring Step Oma to Marcy, Chris, Jay, Kim and Jonathan. Thoughtful Step Great-Oma to Owen, Page and Nolan. During the Second World War, along with so many other Donau Schwaben, Therese and her immediate family became refugees to escape the advancing Russian Troops. She spent several years in refugee camps outside of Innsbruck, Austria. Eventually Therese and her family moved to France before immigrating to Canada in 1951. All of her life her heart ached at the injustices she felt were perpetrated on her family and homeland. We will miss her stories from her youth, her harmonica serenades, and her singing. Mostly we will miss her wonderful cooking and baking. “Food that schmecks!” The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Iler Lodge – The John Milne House, for their compassionate care. A very special thank you to the emergency department room staff at Hotel Dieu for their care and compassion during our Mothers last hours. Visitation will be held at WINDSOR CHAPEL (Banwell Chapel) 11677 Tecumseh Rd. East, 519-253-7234 on Friday November 23, 2018 from 10:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel.
