Obituary Overview
Therese Dumont
Dumont, Therese
November 7, 1957 – April 6, 2018
Therese (Trez) passed away suddenly in Edmonton, AB. She leaves behind to mourn, her mother, Mary Dumont, predeceased by her father Daniel Dumont in 1996, four sisters, Bev (Claude), Cheryl (Bill), Dawn (Mike), Danielle, and her two sons Jesse and Joshua Shearer.
Also nieces and nephews Meagan, Taylor, Adam, Marie, Michael, Camille, Jean Paul, and Caitlin. She will also be greatly missed by her partner Winston and many friends and relatives.
Therese was born in Cold Lake, AB and then began her life as a PMQ brat. Wishing to remain an only child she then endured the arrival of four sisters who she tirelessly looked after, kept occupied whether playing, singing, or performing plays for our parents. She was the oldest sister who enjoyed managing her sisters and her life.
After moving to Edmonton, AB in the sixties, Therese found a love of figure skating which she excelled at. Montreal was up next where Therese felt she was in her element, two and a half years later it was on to the Comox Valley where we all settled into an easy life.
Therese graduated at G.P. Vanier in 1975, she excelled at academics, arts, and skiing. She loved the mountains and the ocean. She developed many lifelong friendships in the valley that she maintained throughout her life. Therese had a great business sense, so then went on to Malaspina College taking business. She would build on her many skills at several colleges and institutions throughout her life. Her most fond memories are her time working at Mt. Washington Ski Resort.
Therese travelled to London, ON in the early eighties, there meeting her future husband and ultimately welcoming their two sons Jesse and Joshua. Eventually parting ways with her husband she then settled back in the Comox Valley for many years, later moving to Edmonton,
White Rock, Whistler, and Edmonton again, returning to the Valley for many visits always wishing to settle back there.
Therese had many talents and interests, she was an accomplished cook, artist, skier, and had a talent for running a business, which was currently her occupation working alongside her partner Winston. She loved the outdoors and could be found kayaking and enjoying nature.
Therese loved to travel and took many trips enjoying other cultures. Music was a large part of Therese’s life and had attended many music festivals and concerts throughout her life Therese has left us far too soon. She will be forever in our hearts.
Bye see you.
A memorial is being held at Evergreen Funeral Home, 16102 Fort Rd., Edmonton, AB on Saturday, April 21, 2018 @ 2 p.m.
