Obituary for Thelma Grace Godda (Schamehorn)
It is with heavy hearts that her daughters announce the peaceful passing of Thelma on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, in her 88th year.
Thelma was the beloved daughter of Ernest and Mary (Rimmington) Schamehorn of Huntsville ON. Dear sister of Ross (predeceased), Patricia Adams (late Ralph), Leonard Schamehorn (Lorraine) and Margaret Anley (Larry). Wife of George (predeceased 1995) and loved mother of Jeanne Huntley (Gary), Sault Ste. Marie, Beverley Gingras, Dowelltown, Tennessee, Pauline Lynde (Bryce), Orono, Rebecca Metcalf (Jim), Powassan and Judy Molica (Tom) Dunsford. Predeceased by son in law Tony. Cherished Gramma to Jennifer (Matthew), Jason (Amy), Richard (Natasha), Angela, Adrian (Tereza), Charles (Christina), Paul (Kerry), Santina and Amy (Brian). Also “GG” to 11 great-grandchildren.
Thelma worked as an equipment operator with Bell Canada for 55 years and was a full time working Mom long before it was common. She was an avid reader of mysteries and was an active community volunteer. She loved nothing better than spending time at the casino, visiting a “good” garage sale or a good old country auction to add to her collections of china and glassware.
A private family service will be held at Mackey Funeral Home, Lindsay ON. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Arthritis Society or a charity of your choice.
Thank you to the staff of Extendicare (Lindsay) for their care over the past few years and their compassionate palliative care. Also thank you to Dr F. Doris (Peterborough, ON) for his ongoing care as she struggled with the pain and disability of arthritis.
