Glace Bay
Thelma Farrow, age 75 passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2018 in the Glace Bay Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late James and Marion (Simmons) Gillis.
Thelma was employed at several jobs throughout her life time; they included Harbax, Mendelson’s, Shore’s Grocery and looking after the elderly (Homecare). Thelma enjoyed knitting , playing darts and going to bingo. She was always uplifting, fun and compassionate.
Thelma is survived by her sons, Darren and Glenn, Glace Bay, stepbrother, David Walsh, stepsister, Grace Walsh, sister in law, Donna McMaster, New Waterford, nieces, nephews, cousins, four grandchildren, Michaela, Kirklind, Ethan, Keigan and two great grandchildren, Emery and Noah.
Besides her parents, Thelma was predeceased by her husband, Russell Farrow (2002), her son, Russell Jr. (2017), sister, Lorelei “Missy” Dawson and her brother, James Francis “Spabs” Gillis.
Visitation will be held this Friday from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4 p.m. followed by a reception, all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. Interment in St. Anne’s Cemetery at a later date.
