Mr. Thadius Moonias passed away at his residence on Sunday, May 13, 2018. He was born on November 7, 1959 to parents Norman Moonias (predeceased) and Georgina Susan Moonias. Thadius was married to Betty Ann Alice Moonias (predeceased).Thadius was a Star of Courage recipient and was recognized by the Governor General of Canada in 1996 for his efforts in defending and assisting an injured constable in 1994. He helped to access funding for his community with various vital programs and other economic development projects. He is survived by daughters Cynthia Drake (predeceased), Stacey Moonias (predeceased), Natalie (Brandon Morris) Moonias, Casey (Ashley Sakanee) Moonias, Elianna Moonias and Sheila Mekanak; sons Wesley (Susan) Angess, Bruce (Edith) Moonias and Kyle Moonias; siblings Sally Sakanee, David Moonias, William Moonias, Tommy Joe Moonias, Dominic Moonias, Roy Moonias, Rita Moonias (predeceased), Eli Moonias and Allan Moonias. His grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends will also miss him, especially his long-time friend, former partner Katherine Kwandibens and her family.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 22 at Jenkens Funeral Home, 226 South Syndicate Avenue, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Internment will take place at Neskantaga First Nation; Lansdowne House, Ontario at a later date.
