OBITUARY
Sylvia Joyce MacLachlan
December 28, 1935 – March 5, 2018
MACLACHLAN, Sylvia Joyce (nee McMaster), 82, of Halifax, passed away March 5, 2015 in the QEII, VG site. Born and raised in Rockville Notch, Silvia attended the Kingston Bible College and graduated from Middleton Regional High School. She received her teaching degree from Acadia University and went on to teach at Fairview for one year when she decided to leave the profession to start and raise a family.
When her boys entered high school she went to work with her husband at New York Life. She also served as a church deacon at Birch Cove Baptist Church. Later Sylvia was a sales person with Eatons. She enjoyed her gardens, playing bridge and spoiling her granddaughters, trips abroad with friends and family. One of her favorite places to go was the family’s cottage at Berwick Camp Meeting. In the last few years she enjoyed music, exercise classes, games and a nightly episode of Jeopardy at Parkland.
She is survived by sons, Scott (Sandra MacBeath) MacLachlan, Cliff (Allison Stillwell – partner) MacLachlan; granddaughters, Geneva and Joy MacLachlan; sister, Ethlyn Mosher; and many nieces and nephews. Sylvia was predeceased by her husband, Claude MacLachlan; and sisters, Marie Cameron and Vivian Banks.
Many thanks to the staff at Parkland, QEII Hospital for their care and kindness towards Sylvia.
Funeral service will be Friday, March 9, at 11:00 am at Birch Cove Baptist Church, 50 Donaldson Ave, Halifax, with Rev. John Wilton officiating. A reception will take place immediately after the service followed by a private family burial. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation.
