Sadly, Susan passed away in Hospice after a courageous battle with cancer. She is survived by her children Elan (Rob), Carla (Mike) and Tim (Melanie), grandchildren Nora, Bishop, Oskar, Felix and Eliza, siblings Debbie Elliott, Wendy Fox and Kevin Baldwin (Dawn), step-brother Raymond, friend and former husband Tony, plus numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Susan was born in Vancouver, B.C. and spent her childhood and school years in Burnaby, Port Alberni and Prince Rupert. She met Tony in Prince Rupert and they were married in 1968. Shortly after that, they settled in Victoria where Elan and Carla were born. In 1978 the family relocated to Abbotsford and in 1982 Tim was born.
Susan’s work life began at CIBC; once her children were all in school, she decided she wanted to be a teacher and attended SFU for 5 years, graduating in 1994. She taught in the Mission School District for several years, before enrolling in BCIT to learn how to run her own business, which she did in Vancouver until returning to Victoria. Susan held various jobs in Victoria, finally retiring from the Provincial Government in 2016.
Susan’s greatest joys were her children and grandchildren, gardening, walking, live music and exploring. She was thoughtful, caring and strong, and always repaid the kindnesses that were shown to her. She will be sadly missed by so many family and friends.
Thank you to the incredible staff at Victoria Hospice who made Susan’s and her family’s last days so much more comfortable.
Please join us for a celebration of Susan’s life to be held at the Prospect Lake Community Hall, 5358 Sparton Rd, Victoria, B.C. on Sunday, August 26th, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Victoria Hospice. Condolences may be offered to the family below.
