OBITUARY
SHIRLEY LEONA BURKE
June 27, 1932 – July 10, 2018
Burke, Shirley, age 86 of Halifax.
It is with deep sadness to announce the passing of Shirley Leona Burke. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Leona Thompson (Jacques). She was predeceased by her husband Patrick Burke, son Richard and son Stephen who lived with and cared for her.
She was a member of The Children of Mary’s for many years at St Mary’s Basilica and for many years sang in the choir. She was a devoted and loving mother who loved to bake and care for her family. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by daughters Debbie (Harvey Collins), Beverley, Starlene of Halifax; sons, Ronald in Northwood Centre, and Thomas in Sackville; brother, Thomas Jacques in Lunenburg County and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank deeply her home care service providers, Northwood Centre, the VON and Dr. Buckley for their great care and support.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10am Thursday July 19, 2018 in St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica, 5221 Spring Garden Rd. Halifax. Interment in Fairview Cemetery will follow the service.
Donations may be made to the food bank or any charity of choice.
