Jackson, (Rose) Shirley Jean – It is with deep regret that the family of Shirley Jean (Rose) Jackson, age 89, who passed away on October 6, 2018, at her daughter’s home in Shortts Lake.
Born in Oakfield, she was a daughter of the late Lewis and Carrie Rose. She married John Bamford Jackson of Stewiacke and became a foster parent from 1962 until 1995 caring for over 60 children.
Shirley is survived by sons, Stephen (Debbie), Dutch Settlement; Fredrick (Sharon), Cloverdale; Peter (Ellen), Truro; daughters, Pam (Lloyd Bennett), Norwich, Ontario; Debbie (Harold Nielsen), Shortts Lake; Kelly (David Eye), Enfield; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grand children.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by sisters, Sadie Rose, Jenny Ramsey, Helen Lieshman, Frances Ramsey, Mary Barns, Cora Rose; brothers, Melvin, Angus, Lewis, Laurie, Robert, Clarence and Vincent.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. A Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, October 9, from 2-4 p.m., in Royal Canadian Legion, Stewiacke Branch. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
